Long walk
A thing I keep forgetting to do.
Walk it off.
Sometimes that’s a long walk off a short pier.
Others, it’s a walk off home run.
Still other times, it’s just walking until the big feelings get manageable again.
Walking is like sleep in how vastly underrated both activities are.
Both have the capacity to restore us to a level far beyond the time invested.
Yet we insist that it’s too easy. That the answer is just too simple.
Walk a little further.
Sleep a little more.
We reduce both when times are hardest, convincing ourselves that we don’t need those steps or that shuteye.
Recovery should be as our work: planned, active, and repeated.
